Friends,

Odissi Anjali, by Raas Leela Performing Arts Studio (Klang) of Artistic Director, Priya Yogi, was performed with great panache and confidence to full house by the students, at Amphi Sutra.

The gods were definitely on our side as it rained buckets on other parts of KL. The cool weather and the inimitable Amphi-Sutra atmosphere, were unforgettable experience.

Senior dancers of Sutra chipped in to help the young ones with the make-up and tying up of their saris. It was simply déjà vu seeing blouses of Sutra’s previous Odissi program of Spellbound and saris of Evocations, being recycled again! Dolled up in these ‘old’ Sutra classic production costumes, the young dancers not only gave life once again to these lovely attire, but looked stunning as the new stars they were aspiring to be!

The colourful painting exhibition Radha-Krishna, The Epiphany, another achievement of its sister institution, Play & Paint Studio, hung proudly at Sutra Gallery with record sale as a testament of the interconnectedness of the visual arts and dance.

Odissi Anjali will have its last performance today, 14 June at 8pm.

Don’t miss this uplifting presentation from Klang, a testament of the soft power of Arts & Culture to empower our future generation.
