Dear Friends,
I am delighted to invite you to a sharing of my dance photographic journey and experience in conjunction with my solo b/w exhibition of Malam Bulan Di Pagar Bintang, presently exhibited at Sutra Gallery.
Dance Photography is a specialised area that requires one to be extra- observant. I consider it to be a close and intimate encounter with my subject, which is the moving human body in the act of expressing itself.
This โencounterโ can be very tenuous and even more elusive than photographing a landscape.
What makes one โencounterโ preferable than the one before or after it? This split-second decision has always been a subjective point of
contention when to click for a photograph.
The area of Dance Photography is still open for exploration especially in Malaysia and in which Sutra has been a pioneer in spearheading.
This is the experience which I want to share with you and I hope you will be at Sutra with me, together with Sutra dancers and Ramli Ibrahim, who will take an active part in the discussion.
