Let A Thousand Flowers Bloom arrives in Kuala Lumpur after its impactful launch last January in Chennai, then to Bhubaneswar, Pune and eventually in New Delhi. Let a Thousand Flowers Bloom is not just any singular travelling exhibition, but one that is continuing a cultural conversation of India with the Golden Chersonese-one that began millennia ago and now finds new resonance in contemporary Malaysia.
What was first envisioned as a movement has evolved into a powerful expression of trans-cultural dialogue, where art transcends geography and becomes a shared human experience.
Inspired by the lyrical presence of Odissi in Malaysia for the last four decades, this exhibition now brings together photography, drawings, and paintings that not merely documents the dance, but responds to it-translating & transforming movement into form, rhythm into line, and emotion into visual poetry and new mythic interpretations.
At its heart lies a deeper story-of how a classical Indian dance form – Odissi – has taken root in Malaysian soil through decades of artistic exchange and conversation, led by Sutra Foundation.
This is not simply a cultural exchange; it is a dynamic cultural evolution at its organic transformative manifestation. The phenomenon is a living example of cultural cross-fertilisation shaped not by policy, but by people-to-people connect and a shared passion for the arts.
The exhibition also pays homage to the late Dr. Dinanath Pathy, a visionary who believed that tradition must live, breathe, and transform across time and national boundaries.
Pathy’s legacy is felt in every work presented here-where know.
