๐ก Main message of the talk:
Multicultural is a term often used to describe Malaysian society, but how far is this concept properly understood within the context of Malaysian society?
And how far does the term actually encapsulate the cultural complexities that underlie social and historical relations?
What is the role of education in this process, and does a multicultural education system facilitate or encumber our understanding?
Given that inequality exists at all levels, how do we, as a nation, create โactive citizenshipโ- informed, sensitive and critically responsive to their social, economic and cultural diversity. More importantly, do these terms mean anything at all in our present context?
