Dear Friends,

Sutra House was the special venue hosting the Toastmasters 2026 District 51 Team Appreciation Dinner on 06 June 2026 – themed RasaSutra.

The Toastmasters ‘crew’ had been working hard especially for their recent Annual Conference held at Time Square.

Toastmasters International is a nonprofit educational organization that helps to build confidence and teaches public speaking skills through a worldwide network of clubs that meet online and in person. In a supportive community or corporate environment, members prepare and deliver speeches, responding to impromptu questions, at the same time giving and receiving constructive feedback. It is through this regular practice that members empower themselves to meet personal and professional communication goals.

Datuk Ramli Ibrahim, welcomed the Toastmasters to Sutra’s recent exhibition Let A Thousand Flowers Bloom inspired by the Indian classical dance of Odissi, which is presently on display in Sutra Gallery.

Young Sutra dancers performed Odissi in the Gallery to begin the event. Dancer Ashikar Raj, then explained the rudiments of Odissi to the appreciative guests.

District Director, Mr Radzi Yusof & Organising Chair, Mr Benny Chia gave their introductory speeches before the Toastmasters adjourned to Sutra Garden to enjoy their sumptuous dinner, prepared by Sutra’s very own Chef Futri.

During dinner, the Toastmasters conducted their Table Topic Sessions, touching on topics such as ‘Lead.Influence.Soar’, ‘My Reflections’, and ‘Journey of A Thousand Miles Begin With A Single Step’.

Most of the attendees had never experienced a Sutra performance and it was a privilege to perform for them an Odissi performance at the sylvan surroundings of Amphi-Sutra under the canopy of Malaysia’s balmy evening sky.

We were glad to have hosted such positive and appreciative guests who had a sumptuous ‘RasaSutra’ of Cuisine, Visual Art, Odissi & Nature!

Indeed, it was a memorable evening for all!
